IRC Channel

We have an IRC Channel for VGLan. The last time, nobody cared and so it was just abandoned. We'll try this one more time, and eventually, use it as an official chat for those who are too lazy to sign on to an Instant Messaging program.

To get on it, first get an IRC Client. Preferrably, X-Chat (http://xchat.org/files/binary/win32/xchat-2.8.7c.exe). It's free, open-source and it is small.

Open it, and you'll be presented a prompt to fill in your information. By default, your username will be your Windows Logon. You can change any of these to your liking.

Click the 'Add' Button to add a new network. Replace 'newserver/6667' with irc.whahay.net/6667. Press Enter to confirm that change.

In the channels to join box, type in #vglan. You can fill in Nickserv password with whatever password you'll be using for your registered username, so nobody can easily steal it.

You can also tick the 'Auto connect to this network at startup' if you don't want the list to open up all the time. Anyways, highlight it and then click 'Connect'. You're finally connected to the VGLan IRC. Now chat away, and such. If you want to register your nickname, the command is as follow:



/msg nickserv register [password] [email]

You can still use it for free after the 30 days... you just get a pop-up timer thing at the beginning when you load it.

replacing #tuv with #vglan, again.

Try it again. If it doesn't work, try connecting to one of the default networks. If you can't use the default ones, your firewall is blocking x-chat from connecting.
