View Full Version : Enforcing COPPA Policies

From now on, all future registrations will have to be processed depending by age. When you first register at the forum; before anything it will request your age. If you are under 13, you may NOT take part in this community or any activities. It's already time to enforce COPPA; these underage kids should not be here at all, though the situation has gone just a bit too far. Lying about your age will also not be acceptable; we WILL know one way or another.

Hm, wow. So the forum will be 13+ now? Does that mean that the rules will change a bit? Cause with less "kids" here we wouldn't really "need" to watch what we say, to a degree that is. I'm talking about curse words of course, not the posting of NSFW content.
On second thought... Keep the filters. Otherwise people will go overboard.

i dont think anything needs to be changed. it was already acting like a 13+ forum, but little kids got in.
i dont think a 14 year old should be going around sayin **** this or suck my balls that

No, we're just not letting kids under 13 into the forum. There are underage kids that are mature enough to be let in, but no exceptions will be made. We have to comply with COPPA either way.
We just don't want COPPA on our case and fining us $500.00+ just because we let a 12 year old in.

True. I was thinking along the lines of PT, where you can say pretty much whatever you want, but then again, even though people don't like to think about it, this is a SMBZ fansite, sort of, and it draws in people of all ages.

I'm kinda curious as to how you spot a person's TRUE age despite the lies. Forgive me if the answer is obvious.

@Super Sonic: Some people don't know how to use the Internet and just tell their real age because they believe in all of those stories that parents tell them about the Internet knowing who you are automatically.

If that truly happened at that point (since the rule has been effective as of now), that wouldn't be good at all.
But one thing kinda bugged me about this: Since Gingy (Gingerbread Man, of course) has been around for a long while, isn't he 13 years of age to be in the forums?
Sorry to ask this, but this is just out of curiosity. Don't get me wrong, i know he's quite mature enough to be in the forums, despite his young age, but i'm just wondering about this.
Anyway, good job on keeping things as it should be, Faltzer.

Also, since this forum WILL be limited to 13+, I think we should just keep the category where we keep Flashes the only one visible to guests. What do you guys think?

Well, i don't mind, Faltzer. If that's what you guys wanna do, then by all means do so. But for flashes that are for mature audiences only (like Bowser's Kingdom for example), i think they should be seen only AFTER they join.

What's that supposed to mean, Moon? I only gave my opinion on what Faltzer wanted to know about flashes open for guests.
And besides, i don't do flashes, man, so why would i be banned if i'm not making flashes, let alone that i don't even know how?
