The CAPTCHA image, which was previously on, has been completely removed from the forum, due to the hosting not having GD installed properly. As for the NoSpam verification, it continues to be visible, and it will now serve as the official CAPTCHA replacement for VGLan. If you are a guest that is currently viewing this topic, then you are now free to register without a problem.

CAPTCHA? What is that? Or since you're the supreme coder, Faltzer, can you tell me what CAPTCHA means exactly?

CAPTCHA stands for

Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart. It's a way of determining if the user is actually a human, and not a robot. CAPTCHA technologies nowadays are failing against spambots, pornbots, etc. because they are programmed to bypass the logic and security. CAPTCHA is generated by a web programming language, and rendered by the programming language's image library.

Aah! I see.

Man, that's a long title for something that's been translated in initials. Wouch! :sweatdrop:

No, the numbers/letters verification was removed. THAT'S CAPTCHA. NoSpam is not CAPTCHA.

I think this method seems pretty efficient (pictures instead of numbers and letters), but it seemed a little TOO efficient to me (At first, it didn't accept 'Fox McCloud' as the answer, then it gave me a character who I didn't even recognize)...

That's a taste of GD Image Libraries.

Hm, I need to add McCloud to the answers.
